10 Crucial DO’s & DON’Ts On Your Wedding Day
Although you thought that hiring a wedding planner and all of those vendors would leave you that time with your bridesmaids to relax, visit the spa, drink champagne and daydream about the big day, you now realize that that is something possible in a movie only. Trust me, you are not the only one!
The Big Day is getting closer and your anxiety proportionally rises. Would you have the time to finish all of the things that are left? Is the cake going to end up exactly the way you imagined it your whole life? What if you forget the earrings your Grandmother passed to you? Are all of your bridesmaids going to fit in their dresses? OMG are you going to fit in your dress? Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered!
Your Big Day Is Here…Now what?
While some of the things stated below count for the whole day, I tried going chronologically from the beginning till the end of this very special event.
#1 – DO: Set Your Jewelry And Accessories Out In The Open
Remember that fear of forgetting your Grandma’s earrings? You don’t want to be half way to the church when you realize your shape wear is at home.
Just make sure that the first thing you do in the morning is check if all of your jewelry and accessories are right there where you can see them and take them with you.
#2 – DON’T: Skip breakfast
It’s normal that you are afraid to not feel or look bloated on your Big Day. But I am pretty sure you don’t want to feel drunk nor passed out on your Day either.
The best thing you can do is have a large, healthy breakfast so you can skip lunch. However, make sure you always have snacks around to support the champagne sips with your bridesmaids in the bridal suite.
#3 – DO: Get a Wedding Robe
Wearing comfortable clothes while getting ready will you make you feel more at ease. Wearing beautiful yet comfortable clothes while getting ready will make you feel beautiful, while feeling more at ease.
The process of getting ready in the morning will be already filled with pressure anyways, so make sure you don’t add unnecessary tension. Making sure you have a wedding robe for the day will not only make you feel good, but will make the getting-ready pictures even prettier.
#4 – DON’T: Forget Coffee, Tea And Cookies
It is not only that drinking alcohol during the whole day is not recommended it is also not a favorite start of the day for many people.
So, beside the symbolical celebration champagne, make sure there are enough coffee, tea and cookies for you and your bridesmaids.
#5 – DO: Make a Bride Suite Playlist
“Girls just wanna have fun,” Cyndi Lauper once said and no girl ever disagreed.
Imagine, it will be just one more dream come true - besties altogether, all of you dressing up, doing your make up, holding the hairbrushes as your microphones.
Making a playlist with getting-ready music will get the party energy in the bridal suite sky high.
#6 – DON’T: Be Late For Anything On Your Planning
If you are like any other bride on this planet then your time must be planned to the last minute. Remember that being late for anything will cause a domino effect.
As bizarre as this may sound you will also have to remind your bridesmaids and all VIP’s about this. Any of them being late will agitate your patience and plan.
#7 – DO: Pack The Essential Wedding Kits
Yeah, there are two of them and you DO need them for a stress-free and impeccable wedding.
The first one is the Bridal Suite Kit. Here you need all of that small stuff you and your bridesmaids are going to use or might need while getting ready – deodorant, hairspray, bobby pins, safety pins, scissors, brush, Band-Aid, pain killer, breath mints, chalk (for covering stains on the dress), lens fluid, nail file (yup, we all know the struggle), tampons, false eyelashes glue, and straws (keep that make up flawless).
The second one is the Wedding Kit. This one is a lot smaller and - challenging enough - has to fit your clutch. This kit contains the little finishing touches you might need during the party – lipstick, lip-gloss, hairspray, tissues and flats.
#8 – DON’T: Panic If The Ring Doesn’t Fit
If you were not aware that there is a big possibility that this will happen, then most probably you are in panic now. The good thing is, there is no reason for concern.
From a humid wedding location to nervousness and heat, there are several reasons that can cause swollen fingers.
If this happens on your magical day, just gently put the ring above his knuckle and make sure it fits perfectly afterwards.
#9 – DO: Make Time For Your Parents
This day is as special to them as it is to you. Remember that they might be just as restless and you spending a few moments with them might give you the peace of mind you all need.
While you are there, make sure you take a couple of pictures too. Those few captured moments will perhaps end up being one of the most precious memories of your very special day.
#10 – DON’T: Be The Vendor’s Contact Person
You have the maid of honor, groomsmen, bridesmaids, ushers, parents, and bunch of other VIP people that should take care of all of the little and not so little things that will go wrong on the wedding day.
Also, don’t forget to dedicate two people per vendor. That way you have everything covered and backed up.
Reminisce Your “I DO”
Stop for a moment, stand still and take a breath for just a moment. Take a look at all of it, at all of the details, at everything you were stressing over, at your family, your new family, your friends, your loved one.
Hey, it is YOUR BIG DAY! Make sure that you remember, appreciate, experience and enjoy it!
